This is a great little hotel right in the middle of everything in the old Istanbul. All major sites are within walking distance. The maximum we had to walk from this hotel was 15 minutes so you can imagine how good the location is. We had a connected family room which was nice and clean. The only minor gripe we had was that carpet was quite old but apart from that, everything was quite nice. The breakfast is quite good value for the price you pay. We had a great time overall.

If you want a place to stay in a good location, with all your basic needs…Ilkay Hotel is the best choice.

Location: Ilkay is located in the heart of all activities. You can walk to the touristic area of Sultahnamet and the Bosphorous in Eminonu. Its near the tram station and this is a plus to us because you can easily roam around without getting lost and it is easier to locate.
Istanbul Ilkay Hotel;

Rooms: The family room can have 4 people but there is no big space. Good for our luggage and small space to roam around. It’s not family friendly though if you have children. Walls are thin and you can hear sounds from the other rooms. Bathroom is clean with a bath tub and shower. Wi-fi is great in our room.
Service: The staff are friendly and approachable. They made our stay comfortable. They provided information around the area, necessary things like adapters, and they even arranged our transportation to our bus station.
Food: Breakfast is good but with minimal variety. It will be better if they provide Asian breakfast if they have Asian guests.
Overall: This is the best choice for us. A budget hotel in the city for group of friends visiting Istanbul for the first time. Many thanks to Ilkay Hotel.

Istanbul, hotel ilkay !
Front desk stuff were supper friendly and polite. They do their best to make your stay enjoyable.
Rooms are OK the but they do miss refrigerator which I think it’s the norm in low budget hotels.
The hotel locations is perfect as its in downtown and a walking distance to many great touristic places.
The only concern was the restaurant which we dealed with for a daily breakfast.
The dishes were always left on the tables and it took some time for the stuff to remove then and to clean the table again.
The breakfast it self was basic but you can’t complain as there are a variety of the availability.
I hope they will manage the restaurant.

The Ilkay is a great choice if you want to visit the various landmarks scattered in the old part of Istanbul. Its very close (150m) to Topkapi Palace and from there the Ayasofia and Blue Mosque are a stone throw away. There are even a few decent options to eat nearby if you don’t want to stray to far at night.
The hotel rooms are rather small (bathrooms are normal size though), but well kept and very clean. The breakfast wasn’t especially good, but still decent. The reception staff was great, very polite and patient.
We enjoyed our time in Istanbul and in no small part due to choosing the Ilkay as our hotel. We will probably return here next time we’re visiting

We received very warm reception and accommodation provided was as per our expectations. The location of Hotel is right in the Centre of city hub. The entire staff is cooperative but Mr. Younas is top of the line. He is very efficient and always willing to help. Breakfast provided was also good. Cleanliness was good and overall a very fine hotel. I will like to come and stay here next time also. I will tell my friends from Pakistan to come and stay in Ilkay Hotel. It is one of the best hotel in the town.

Our five night stay at Ilkay was more than fine. Clean room, extremely comfortable bed(we slept better than back home), clean bathroom which comes with standard toiletries. The room was facing the street and it can get loud at night, but closing the window fixes the problem. The rooms are air conditioned and wi-fi is very good. Staff is really friendly, they speak fluent English so communication wasn’t an issue. We had no problem in using a computer and a printer (I had previously asked if this was possible). The hotel is in walking distance to major tourist attractions like Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Basilica Cistern, Topkapı, Grand Bazaar, Suleymaniye Mosque, Galata Bridge. It is also located right between two tramway stops (T1), therefore getting to places further away is easy, and right next to the Marmaray. Arriving at the hotel from Ataturk Airport took less than an hour. Breakfast was also fine, good cheese, eggs, veggies, jams, honey and freshly baked bread and other pastries. I didn’t award Ilkay five stars only because of the carpet, which needs some thorough cleaning as there were stains all over, and because I would have enjoyed a tasty ham or salami at breakfast (what they offered in terms of ham/salami wasn’t tasty at all). I definitely recommend this place!

I was staying here one night in July. Our room was specious, very clean and comfortable. Location of the hotel is great, near Haghia Sofia, Topkapi palace, Blue mosque. Staff was also great and very friendly.
Before we came to Ilkay hotel I saw that some people mentioned on tripadvisor that hotel is noisy, It is normal because hotel is on the street and tram is passing in front of hotel and it is not that much noisy at all.
I recommend this hotel.
