This full-day sightseeing tour of Istanbul provides a perfect introduction to the city that straddles Europe and Asia.

When Istanbul was known as Constantinople, it was the capital of the Roman Empire and the wealthiest metropolis in Europe. On this city tour you’ll visit Istanbul’s 4 most important historic sites with a local guide.

The Blue Mosque is an iconic monument in both the Turkish and Islamic worlds. The stunning structure was built in the classical Ottoman style, and features 6 towering minarets and 260 windows that provide illumination for its vast inner chamber that is lined with more than 20,000 Iznik tiles.

In the 6th century, the Hagia Sophia was built by the Emperor Justinian. After the Ottoman conquest, it was converted to a mosque and later converted into a museum, featuring many beautiful Byzantine mosaics.

One of the largest and oldest palaces in the world, Topkapi is the crown jewel of the Ottoman Empire. With its treasury and exotic buildings overlooking the Golden Horn, walking Topkapis grounds offers gorgeous views of the city and the nearby Bosphorus.

You’ll have time to shop at the Grand Bazaar – its 58 streets are lined with more than 4,000 shops. It is one of the worlds largest covered markets, and is particularly known for its jewelry, leather, pottery, spices, and carpets.

My husband and I usually do not sign up for group tours, but our day touring the major historically/culturally significant sights in Istanbul was so worthwhile, Melek our guide, was knowledgeable and very personable. She gave our small group all kinds of interesting information that we would not have learned had we rented audio guides for each of the sights. She was flexible in terms of altering the itinerary so that we could go to the Basilica Cistern (fantastic!) which had not been part of the planned tour. And it was great whisking past the lines to enter each sight. At the end of the tour she even went out of her way to take us to the Spice Market, and then show us one of her favorite food vendors where we ate after shopping for spices.

Visiting Istanbul;

Booked online with adavegas tours. We were a group of three people and we had just one day where we wanted to see and do as much as possible. The communication before we arrived was not only prompt, but responded to our questions and gave us great suggestions based on their experience, In our day Burak made sure we saw and experienced everything that we had planned. He was incredibly informed and we heard about history, architecture, social issues, as well as seeing the wonderful sites. He made the day extremely enjoyable and we packed an amazing amount into the time we had available.
We are very happy to recommend Burak and Istanbul Adavegas Tours to anyone who wants to get the most out of their Istanbul experience.

Gokhan our tour guide, was knowledgeable, friendly and honest. His English was superb and he really helped to bring alive some of the places we saw in the Old City. We were glad we paid a little extra for the private guide experience. We’ve got exactly what we wanted, something you cannot find in guides, live word from local person, little stories and tales from the past and some insides on Istanbul and Turkey today. The agency is very punctual and professional.
