Lindos De Luxe is a tour that combines the magnificent scenery of the area with its sites of Historical significance. Gently paced it is informative, relaxing and suitable for all.
After picking you up we take a drive of approximately 90 mins along the magnificent east coast of Rhodes.Possibly the most beautiful village on the island Lindos opens up before you.
Justifiably the Greek government has deemed the village worthy of preservation and as such no efforts have been spared ensuring it retains its traditional colour , charm and attraction.. The region also boasts an impressive ancient acropolis dedicated to Athena as well as a mighty fortress.
Depending on your sense of adventure you can hire a donkey or walk to the Acropolis ,15 minutes away.. The ancient sanctuary is built in multiple ascending levels, its highest point houses the temple of Athena Lyndia which dates back to the 4th century BC.
The Acropolis also contains the remains of a Byzantine Church and one of the castles of the Knights Hospitaller (Knights of St. John). A spectacular vantage point from which you can see St Pauls Bay where in 52AD he was said to have arrived.
After the Acropolis you decide what you would like to do, wander the shops, discover narrow winding streets, take solitude in the medieval church or find a comfy seat and partake of refreshments. After the village we take you to a beachside restaurant for lunch and later head for the Old Town of Rhodes.
We begin our tour of the old town with the Street of the Knights Hospitaller and the Grand Master’s Palace, a fortress built in a very conspicuous location meant to dominate the town and its adjoining harbours.
Construction on the Palace began in 14th century. It was destroyed in 1856 and rebuilt in 1929 by the Italians.
After the walking tour, you will have an opportunity to purchase souvenirs in many of the local shops. At the end of the tour, you can choose to return to the ship in the vehicle, or stay in the old town and return at your leisure. It is a short 10 to 15 min stroll back to the ship.
