Excellent location: the street is well lit and very safe to walk around at night. It is literally steps away from the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia Museum. The Grand Bazar and Topkapi palace are also within walking distance, as are different shops and restaurants. It is also steps from the tram, so honestly, the location is reason enough to stay here.
Attentive Service: everyone at the hotel greets you every time you walk in. They make sure you are taken care of whether you need the gym opened up early to get in your morning workout (like I did) or if you’re craving some rose water – they will make sure your needs are met. Bilal was amazing – he made sure all our excursion reservations were made and gave us excellent recommendations for sites to see. He honestly made us fee l more like we were his friends than his clients. It’s this type of attitude throughout the hotel staff that definitely makes it worth staying at.
Cleanliness: the rooms and bathrooms were very clean. The other facilities were also extremely clean: dining area, gym, and lobby.
Food: our breakfast buffet was included and was delicious. The food offered varied from traditional Turkish pancakes, to personalized omelets, cheese and meat assortments, different types of bread, fruit – you name it! The hotel also included high-tea which was free for guests. This included an assortment of tea and different pastries.
Cons:
Noise: the rooms do not do the best job of cancelling out outside noise and noises from the rooms nearby.
Room Doors: the room doors are not weighted so they do not shut automatically – we, on occasion forgot this and realized much later that our door was open. Just be attentive and make sure the door closes securely before leaving your room.
Tips:
Take the hotel’s airport transfer shuttle: this is probably the easiest way to get to the hotel and out of the hotel. The streets of Istanbul are confusing and I can easily see a cab driver getting lost or taking you to the wrong hotel.

What wonderful service and absolutely amazing staff. without wanting to single any one person out I feel compelled to thank Bilol for his professional approach to solving a problem I needed attending to. The breakfasts are a wonderful experience of local foods as well as anything your heart might desire as regards food that is. The well located hotel makes holidaying in this area an absolute treat. Thanks to all the staff for making our stay an incredibly happy one. We will be back.

We stayed from the 29th December to the 3rd January as part of our honeymoon trip. As soon as they knew this they were really kind and attentive to details such as taking a cake to our room. The concierges were excellent and were really helpful, specially vilal (im not sure if its spelled this way), who remembered us as we came back from tours or reservations and made sure to ask us how everything went. During the new year’s eve gala everyone was really cheerful and taught us a couple of Turkish dances. We really enjoyed our stay and the rooms and hotel itself are really amazing. We will deffinetely come back and stay at Sura Hagia Sophia!

Myself and my husband came here in August 2015 and again in December. It is a beautiful and clean hotel with very helpful friendly staff. The breakfast is very nice too. It’s very close to the blue mosque, a two min walk and right next Tram line. Bilal from the guest relations was very helpful saving us a lot of money by showing us tram and metro lines. Fawad another staff let us borrow his Istanbul kart which is so generous. We absolutely love the gym and it’s one of the main reasons we came back to sura as my husband trains everyday.
I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting sultanhamet

We absolutely loved this hotel.
Food was amazing and service was impeccable.
They are extremely helpful and will go above and beyond to assist you.

Ofcourse, don’t expect a room with a view. But hey, you’re in Istanbul, get out and walk around and absorb the sights!

Our only complaint, ok, not a complaint but just one negative…we asked for a restaurant recommendation at the guest services. Now, they were extremely helpful and booked us a nice restaurant with a fantastic view and even provided shuttle service to and from. But in hindsight, it was pretty costly and considering where you are, you can get much better food and much lower pricing within walking distance.
So recommendation for the staff, you could probably have more satisfied guests, if you have menus from nearby gems rather then sending folks to posh restaurants :-).

me and my wife visited istanbul in the middle of november. It was a great stay. Very enjoyable! I must say sura hagia hotel is fantastic. The hotel hospitality is one of the best i’ve been to, especially Bilal from the concierge services (Thank You to him). The location is prob the best in Sultanahemet with less than 5 mins walking distance to the blue mosque, sophia hagia, bascilla cistern. Loads of nice restuarents and if you want to venture out a little more then the grand bazaar is only a 10mins walk. Great job guys keep up the hard work!

January 10, 2016

Situated right in the heart of Sultanahmet, right opposite to tram station and blue mosque, Sura is a very nice hotel. We chanced upon this hotel when we went to meet a friend from Beirut who was staying there. The decor and friendly staff impressed us right away. Hassaniya and Cigdem as the guest relation persons welcomed with their perfect smiles. Bilal at the concierge desk ensured that our travel arrangements were arranged perfectly. He went out of the way to find us accommodation in Antalaya as well. Rojin at the coffee shop served us tasty food. All in all, we had a wonderful time. The spa facilities were also great.

This is a relatively new hotel in the heart of Sultanhamamet. It is about 3 mins walk to the blue mosque. Absolutely fantastic location, close by to the tram and a stones throw from Hagia Sofia. The area is bristling with places to eat with the grand bazaar only about 10 mins walk from the hotel.
What a fantastic hotel. When we arrived they didn’t have the family room we had booked so we were immediately upgraded to a deluxe family room with a garden view. This had 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a living room. The rooms were extremely clean, with complimentary fruit and bottled water. Tea making facilities were also available.
The hotel staff could not have been more helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. We were treated as real individual guests as opposed to just another customer. On departure they provided us with a packed breakfast due to our early departure. This was all the more impressive as we were a large group with 7 children and 7 adults.
The breakfast buffet had an excellent variety each day. A complimentary Meze was available each lunchtime (between 1-3pm) if you preferred a light lunch, as well as tea and cake between 5-6pm.
The hotel has free WiFi, computers in lobby area for use, as well as complimentary use of pool, steam room and sauna.
Overall an absolutely fantastic hotel with brilliant helpful staff. Would definitely recommend to stay here.

Lovely hotel with fantastic and very friendly staff. Always willing to help. We stayed here as part of three families, seven adults and seven children, ages ranging from 21 months to 11 years old.
They were always accommodating and made us feel welcome. Every morning at breakfast the manager would come over to ask how everything was and it was the biggest family they’d ever had! They also gave the kids some freebies which is always a nice touch.
Breakfast was lovely with plenty of selection(s) as was the High Tea in the afternoon, highly recommend the coffee for the coffee lovers. They offered a mezze (salad) in the afternoon which was do-able and sometimes handy considering some of the extortionate prices of food immediately outside the hotel. The streets are filled with restaurants and eateries, again they can be quite pricey but each to their own.
The hotel is within five minutes walking distance, if that, to the Sultanahmet Mosque (Blue Mosque) and Hagia Sophia, both a must see. The tram/train stop is also a few minutes from the hotel and can be handy when visiting other places, hop on and off on the same line for four Lira (less than £1).
The hotel also has a small gymnasium, a relaxing area next to and near the pool, steam room etc. Treatments can also be bought.
All in all we enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back.

January 10, 2016

We arrived early morning on the 25th October 2015 at the hotel and had a connecting room booked. Normal check-in time is 2pm however the reception staff ensured a room was ready for 10am, so we enjoyed a nice morning stroll to the Sultan Ahmet Camii and Süleymaniye Camii. From then onwards our stay at this hotel was perfect. They arranged a birthday cake for my daughter which we celebrated in the garden. They provided complimentary mezze and high tea daily in the B&B price. We were worried my 3 kids would not like the hotel and the city but how wrong were we, 1 week wasn’t enough. They felt safe inside the hotel and out in the City. Free Wifi was available all throughout the hotel inc our rooms, lobby and dining areas as well free use of the Internet. The girls on guest relations, Bilal, our room cleaner Simra, the restaurant manager and all the staff we came into contact with were always happy and obliging, to the point my kids became friends with them. The hotel also provided free sauna, steam room and turkish bath but we were enjoying and exploring the city that much we didn’t get round to using these. We also had full use of the sister hotel opposite The Design Hotel, and you must try the costumes on. I plan to revisit this hotel again as Sultan Ahmet Camii, Ayasofya and Topkapı Sarayı are on your doorstep !

January 10, 2016

I visited the Sura Hagia Sophia Hotel with my family at around 7 AM. The check in time was 2 PM. However, we were given a room straight away which was great! We had a family room in the garden area.
The location is brilliant as the hotel is very close to most of the historic sights in Istanbul like the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia and Topkapi Palace. The breakfast buffet was awesome.
The issues I had were Wi-Fi didn’t work or the signal was very weak, two of the fridges didn’t work and the rooms were very hot at night because the AC wasn’t working as it was set to winter mode. Other than that I would definitely recommend this hotel.

January 10, 2016

Great location near major tourist attractions and restaurants. Truly excellent service! Particular compliments to Elif and Sunday who were amazing and went out if their way to ensure all of our needs were met. They have a free Meze at lunch and a high tea later in the afternoon. Was a little hard trying to get a taxi to and from there as the street is really narrow. They need to make it one way. We had a taxi taken as it couldn’t drive to the door. We’d been waiting a while and were a little upset but the hotel drove us to the port free of charge. Very accommodating. Couldn’t fault it in any other way if I tried. Wished we could of stayed there more than one night but if I return to Istanbul that’s where I’ll be staying.
