This tour of Athens City and Acropolis is a beautifully executed programme which is enhanced by a guide who ensures it is a memorable, fascinating and informative experience!
After collecting you we proceed by taking a short drive to visit Athens, the cradle of European civilization.
The city’s panorama has been dominated for 25 centuries by the hilltop Acropolis.Today you explore the Acropolis and visit its main buildings: the Propylaia, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechtheion and the magnificent Parthenon. During your visit, you will have some free time to spend as you wish.
Then we continue with a panoramic tour of this amazing city, where you will view the 6th century BC Olympieion (the Temple of Olympian Zeus), one of the largest Corinthian style temples in Greece, and Hadrian’s Arch (2nd Century AD). This arch separated the Greek city from Hadrian’s new Roman city.
Upon arriving at Syntagma Square you will see the Royal Palace, built for Otto I of Bavaria and the site of present day Parliament. The Monument of the Unknown Soldier is located in front of the Palace, and two soldiers (Evzoni) stand guard at all times.
Later you will see the neoclassical buildings of the University, Academy and Library before arriving at the Stadium designed by Lycurgus in the 4th Century BC and rebuilt in 1896 according to the original plan for the modern Olympic Games.
Finally our tour ends when we return to Piraeus and the ship via Syngrou Avenue.

Tour Reviews
We had a great experience with Ada Vegas Travel in Athens. We did the Acropolis tour with her and then later in the week the food tour – both outstanding. Our guide taught us about Greek history from antiquity to the modern day. We learned about the Battle at Marathon with the Persians and the origins of the Olympics all the way up to the debt crisis and current political situation. We saw the Temple of Zeus, the Acropolis, the Parthenon, the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, and more. Along the way we stopped and got a free sample of a red sour cherry spoon sweet, which was so good that we quickly bought more.
